During the spring, Martin Sandström has combined the roles of Acting CPO and CTO – a strong team effort that we are very grateful for. We are now pleased to announce that Maja Lindström has joined Pythagoras as our new Chief Product Officer (CPO). With this appointment, Martin will once again dedicate his full focus to the role of Chief Technology Officer (CTO).
Maja is now immersing herself in the work with the team and our product. But she has also taken the time for an interview, giving you the chance to get to know her better.
Tell us about your background
I have worked for many years in the software industry and I am driven by creating value for customers through smart, user-friendly products. Over the past 12 years, I have held the role of CPO at three different SaaS companies. In these positions, I have led product teams, shaped strategies, and built scalable processes for growth.
But I actually started my career in the software industry 30 years ago, after graduating with a Master of Science in Computer Engineering from KTH. After a few years as a developer and consultant, I moved on fully to product companies – and have stayed there ever since.
How would you describe yourself?
I believe in the power of teamwork and aim to be an inspiring leader. My strength lies in my energy and my experience in leading teams and driving change. My colleagues often appreciate that I am clear about expectations while also practicing a coaching and listening leadership style. And I do enjoy a good laugh – I believe it helps build a strong team spirit.
What do you want to contribute to Pythagoras?
Pythagoras is on a transformation journey to become more scalable and to help even more customers get the most out of their properties. Our customers share many challenges that can be solved with new and exciting technology in areas such as energy efficiency, property maintenance, and space optimization – and we want to be at the heart of tomorrow’s smart property management.
We have a very strong product and a long tradition of listening to our customers. Over time, however, this has led to a number of customized solutions within the system. While valuable, they can sometimes make it difficult to fully leverage all the exciting opportunities ahead, and at times impact quality. That is why it will be important to simplify and create a more unified system.
I hope to contribute to a strong focus for the Product team, and ultimately for all of Pythagoras. I will do my very best to lead with vision and a clear strategy, ensuring that our product remains the natural choice for our customers in the future – both in Sweden and beyond.
Would you like to share something about yourself outside of work?
Being outdoors gives me both energy and relaxation – something I also hope will inspire my leadership here at Pythagoras. I have a holiday home in Trysil where the whole family enjoys skiing and other outdoor activities in both summer and winter, along with good food, drinks, and cozy evenings on the sofa. At home, I am involved in the Scout Association, currently serving as chair of the Saltsjö-Boo Scout troop. Of my three children, two have moved out, which means I now have more and more time for my own interests.
